Suggested interlock procedure: [DCL, 4/18/00] 1. Initial setup a) MPTS TC laser interlock circuitry shall be in its initial setup operating mode which includes the following items: 1) Shutter air pressure on. 2) South wall laser optical box doors closed. 3) TS TC Laser Interlock module Manual Shutter and Manual Laser toggle switches in not-disabled position. 4) TS TC Laser Interlock module "Power OK" LED on. 5) TS TC Laser Interlock module "AIR OK" LED on. 6) TS TC Laser Interlock module "DOOR CLOSE" LED on. 7) TS TC Laser Interlock module "Manual Shutter Disable" LED is off and "Manual Laser Disable" LED is off. 8) Assume that the NOT E-Stop signal is active. After pressing TS TC Laser Interlock module's E-STOP Reset pushbutton, the E-STOP Fault LED should be off. b) MPTS TC Laser Room shall be in its initial setup operating mode which includes the following items: 1) Laser room TP shall be present in Laser room. 2) Laser room door shall be closed. 3) Both Laser room Emergency Stop door switches in reset position. 4) Remove AC power from Laser. The external Laser power supply interlock cable connector shall be disconnected. Connect an ohmmeter across interlock cable connector pins. When the ohmmeter reads < 1 ohm the laser interlock is in an enable mode, and when ohmmeter reads > 1 Meg ohms the laser interlock is in a disable mode. 2. Test personnel in TC. Confirm that the NOT E-Stop and Loop Set signals are present. Observe that the Laser room ohmmeter read < 1 ohm. Also observe that the TS TC Laser Interlock module "Shutter Open" LED is on and "Shutter Close" LED is off. Change the TS TC Laser Interlock module Manual Laser toggle switch to the disabled position. Observe that the Laser room ohmmeter reads > 1 Meg ohms. Return the Manual Laser toggle switch to the not-disabled position. 3. Remove the NOT E-STOP signal. Observe that the Laser room ohmmeter read > 1 Meg ohms, and that the TS TC Laser Interlock module "Shutter Open" LED off, "Shutter Close" LED is on and the E-Stop Fault LED is on. Restore the NOT E-STOP signal. Observe that the Laser room ohmmeter read > 1 Meg ohms until after pressing TS TC Laser Interlock module's E-STOP Reset pushbutton. The E-STOP Fault LED should be off and the Laser room ohmmeter reads < 1 ohm. 4. Remove the LOOP SET signal. Observe that the Laser room ohmmeter reads > 1 Meg ohms, and that the TS TC Laser Interlock module "Shutter Open" LED on and "Shutter Close" LED is off, [low power laser mode]. 5. Change the TS TC Laser Interlock module Manual Shutter switch to the disabled position. Observe that the Laser room ohmmeter reads < 1 ohm, and that the TS TC Laser Interlock module "Shutter Open" LED off and "Shutter Close" LED is on. 6. Change the TS TC Laser Interlock module Manual Laser switch to the disabled position. Observe that the Laser room ohmmeter reads > 1 Meg ohms. Return the Manual Shutter and manual laser toggle switches to not-disabled positions. Observe that the Laser room ohmmeter reads < 1 ohm. 7. Open the south wall laser optical box doors one at a time. Each time a door is open, the Laser room ohmmeter reads > 1 Meg ohms. Close the doors on the south wall laser optical box. Restore the LOOP SET signal. The Laser room ohmmeter reads < 1 ohm. 8. Open the Laser room door and observe that the Laser room ohmmeter reads > 1 Meg ohms. Close the Laser room door and observe that the Laser room ohmmeter reads < 1 ohm. 9. Push the Laser room Emergency Stop switch and observe that the Laser room ohmmeter reads > 1 Meg ohms. Reset the Laser room Emergency Stop switch and observe that the Laser room ohmmeter reads < 1 ohm. 10. Open one of the south wall laser optical box doors. Observe that the mechanical shutter is open and that the TS TC Laser Interlock module "Shutter Open" LED on and "Shutter Close" LED is off. 11. Change the TS TC Laser Interlock module Manual Shutter toggle switch to the disabled position. Observe that the mechanical shutter is closed and that the TS TC Laser Interlock module "Shutter Open" LED off and "Shutter Close" LED is on. Return the TS TC Laser Interlock module Manual Shutter toggle switch to the not-disabled position. 12. Reconnect the external Laser power supply interlock cable. Change the TS TC Laser Interlock module Manual Shutter toggle switch to the disabled position. Apply AC power to the Laser. Bring the laser up. The laser will shut down when the TS TC Laser Interlock module Manual Laser toggle switch is changed to the disabled position. Change the TS TC Laser Interlock module Manual Shutter toggle switch and the Manual Laser toggle switch to the not-disabled positions.
