NSTX EPICS Strip Chart using StripTool

StripTool is a strip chart for displaying EPICS records, up to about 12 values.  The program opens with no records attached, but it can be configured and the file saved to use frequently used sets of records. The middle mouse button can be used Drag-n-Drop from medm displays onto the Graph Window, or the EPICS record name can be hand-entered.

To use StripTool on the unix cluster, login as usual (with X11 forwarding) and then:

1) module load nstx/epics  (if not already done during your login process).

2) StripTool &

 

 

The CURVES  tab allows the Ymin and Ymax values and colors, and visibility to be set.  Each record can have its own Y range on the Graph window.  This can be a source of confusion.

 

The CONTROLS tab sets the sample and redraw rates, colors, and ring buffer size (old samples eventually fall off the end of the buffer, which can be made quite large).
