How to Get IDL Help on Your Macintosh at PPPL

This page describes an older AppleShare-based workflow for copying the local IDL help bundle from a PPPL network share onto a Macintosh desktop.

  1. Connect to the PPPL internal network.
  2. Mount the public documentation share.
  3. Copy the IDL Help bundle or installer locally.
  4. Open the help application and browse via the contents or index tabs.

The exact AppleTalk and Chooser steps are historical, but the purpose of the page is still useful: preserve a local copy of the help set when the networked version is inconvenient.
